Swier – Elegance Redefined

Our Story, our journey.

Summer in the Swartland is renown for warm, sunny, summer days. Just a few months ago the area was filled with evergreen wheat lands and bright yellow canola farmlands. During summer the Swartland transform itself from the evergreen to light yellow when the wheatlands are being harvested.

One morning during the summer of 2018 Wilinda Hanekom and neighbour Daniela Louw were chatting and gazing over the light golden wheat lands. On the dining table was an array of flower arrangements that were used for a wedding reception at the famous “Die Stoor venue”. Daniela,a photographer by trade, started taking photos of the flowers. The bright, natural colours of these flowers were the inspiration they needed to start Swier and to print these unique designs on quality material.

Wilinda is the face and spokeswoman of Swier and oversees the finance and sales of Swier. Daniela, is Swier’s head of photography and freight management and day to day operations.

Robertina, a graphic designer shortly joined the team. She used her skills to arrange these new brand flower themes of photos into a format which was ready for digital printing onto fabrics, to make up our beautiful products. Robertina heads up our graphic design department and is instrumental in all new product development as well as all quotes and admin.

But the team kept on expanding; Fritz Els and Daniel de Bod soon joined the team and brought with them their individual skill sets. Fritz is an e-commerce website developer with shares in a number of online ventures. He oversees the digital footprint of Swier and heads up all IT related issues. Daniel has been in the textile industry for 18 years and has close ties with manufacturers, fabric suppliers and digital printers and assists in new product development and sales infrastructure.

Initially, Swier started selling their products in the surrounding craft markets but the news spread like wildfire and the reaction of the market was so overwhelming that people all over South Africa started to contact the team to order their Swier products.

Just as the Swartland is transforming so is Swier! From humble beginnings, Swier now offers an extensive range of high quality, beautifully designed napery and now ladies sportswear products that are unique with a South African flavour.

Swier has been featured in the Home/Tuis magazine in the June 2019 editorial and now in South Africa’s main Bridal magazine, Wedding Album. Today Swier has a global presence with a representative in Europe and soon in the United States.
